HEAT STROKE - is caused by the failure of the thermostat in the brain, which regulates the body's temperature. If someone has a high fever or has been in the heat for a long period of time, the body can become dangerously overheated. HEAT EXHAUSTION - is caused by loss of salt & water from the body, usually through excessive sweating.
Heatstroke can develop in someone who is already suffering from HEAT EXHAUSTION. It can develop very quickly. Our priority should be to try and cool them down as quickly as possible.
SYMPTOMS OF HEATSTROKE:-
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Restless
- Excessive thirst
- Vomitings
- High temperature
- Difficulty in breathing
- Muscle cramps due to loss of essential salts
- De-hydration
- Loose motions
- Fast PULSE rate
- Reduced or darker colored Urine
WHAT TO DO:-
- Move them to a cool area.
- Give them lots of water to drink.
- Remove outer clothing and wrap them in a cold sheet.
- Give them a sponge bath with cold water and make them sit under a fan.
- Monitor their response, if the temperature is not controlled rush them to the hospital as it could be life-threatening.
HOME REMEDIES OR NATURAL REMEDIES FOR SUNSTROKE:
- COCONUT WATER: It keeps the body temperature cool and hydrates it. It replenishes the lost nutrients.
- ONION:. It has immense cooling properties and is the best for treating sunstroke. In summer one should daily eat raw onions.
- BUTTERMILK: It is known to alleviate the symptoms of sunstroke. It is good for digestion and good for the GUT.
- AAM PANNA: It is a very effective and tasty drink prepared during summer to beat the heat in every Indian house. It lowers the increased body temperature.
- LEMON WATER(nimbu Pani): It protects the body from heat stroke
- WOOD APPLE (Bel) Sherbet: In India, this is another popular summer drink that prevents heat stroke. It acts as a natural body coolant and is very good for the GUT.
- AMLA (Indian gooseberry): Boil amla & smash amla, add sugar (as required) and 1 pinch of salt add water and drink 3 to 4 times. It protects from fever, vomiting, and diarrhea caused by the heat of summer.
- WATERMELON
- MINT Leaves & Coriander leaves juice
- ALOE VERA Juice
- Onion Paste: Make a fine paste of 1 onion and apply generously throughout the body including the head avoiding the eyes. Stay for 1 hr and take bath. Repeat it the next day if required. It reduces fever, and body pains caused by the heat of the sun.
- Fennel Seeds and Tulsi Seeds: Boil these two and drink.
